Overdrive is MTV's broadband video on demand service. The video itself is supposed to be a DRM'd Windows Media Video in a Macromedia Flash "framework". Is there a way to record it? ...and then remove the drm shifty.gif

It is not legal (depending on the laws in your state) to remove or circumventing in any way the DRM: this has been discussed, please read the TOS and, for further informations, DMCA on Wikipedia

Is it legal without the drm removal and is it even possible?

If the video is not DRM protected, then you can retrieve the URL from the flash "framework" or from the HTML code of the page where the framework is contained.
