I think we (Argentina) are going to win. Because we just defeated Brazil 3-1 in the World Cup qualifyier and there aren´t any other powerful enough teams (even knowing that Crespo is not playing now).
Brazil has even lost against Mexico (not saying Mexico is a weak team, but I would never expect that result).
Maybe Brazil and Mexico have some chances.

Brazil lost several times in last Cup's qualifier games, so much that we were afraid it would be the first Cup Brazil wouldn't participate.

We all know the outcome...


Edit: Actually, Argentina, as I remember, did a quite good campaign in the qualifier phase. And didn't go past Stage 1 in the actual cup

I should have supposed you´d be the first to answer.

You´re probably right, but the 3-1 was just days ago, not a year or two back.

We´ll wait and see. It wouldn´t be rare if Brazil wins of course, but I think we are in a great moment.

Right. But my point is, results from the qualifier games don't help the slightest predicting the cup winner. Specially more than one year away from the actual competition.

We are talking about FIFA Confederations Cup Germany 2005 here, not FIFA World Cup Germany 2006.

The confeds cup is being played right now. (Argentina-Germany tomorrow, Japan-Brazil on wednesday).

Well it is up to Brazil and Argentina on wednesday, as I thought it would be. Mexico was tougher than I expected.
Without Crespo and Saviola (red card today) I guess it´ll be really hard to win. Anything could happen. Adriano seems to be in great shape.
Brazil will be hungry for revenge for sure.
Haven´t seen the game Brazil-Japan, but my brother told me the referee robbed Japan.

I didn't watch it either. I only knew the outcome after talking to my dad on the phone that evening.

I´m not much of a soccer fan either, just when it comes to national teams. And probably only when it comes to "important" championships. I´ve attended to 4 or 5 games in stadiums in my whole life.
A game I do remember was Estudiantes-Flamengo in La Plata. We won 2-0 . That was like....don´t know, 12, maybe 15 years ago. (Just googled for it, Supercopa 1994, 11 years ago).
Never went to see Argentina or any other national team though.

As I said before the match, Adriano is in great shape and he scored two.
Brazil walked all over us (4-1) like we did over them less than a month ago, but with the plus of doing it in neutral territory and for a championship. Must have been a great game to watch for neutral fans and of course for Brazilian fans.
The trophy was really impressive, a huge golden cup, a shame we couldn´t get it for a second time as our neighbors did.
The referee was horrible (should have showed a few red cards, given a couple of penalties) but even for both sides.
A fair champion in my opinion.

The really weird fact about the final was that hole in the roof

It isn´t weird at all, there are many beautiful women over there plus thousands of beaches, many among the best of the world. Beach+sun+beautiful women+men makes a lot of children
Although there are also many people living miserably, and that people also procreate like hell. That problem is growing a lot here in Argentina too.
