Hello.
I have recently found portable apps, like PortableFirefox that can be installed on any USB flash drive to be ran on any computer. I was wondering, can foobar be run like this? -------------------- I'm the one in the picture, sitting on a giant cabbage in Mexico, circa 1978.

Here's another thread on this subject.
On quick inspection I think the only useful parts are regarding playlists, and perhaps labelling your drive. It may be of some help. |

Yes, but there is a problem with the absolute path names used in the media library. If you carry your media library on the drive, foobar2000 won't know where to find the music if you plug it in to a computer where the flash drive has a different letter (F: instead of E:, for example.)
Though I much prefer foobar2000, I have Winamp installed on my flash drive because it allows you to edit the music library path and make it relative. It would be great if FB2K had this feature, as it has less overhead and installs in less than 1/4 of the space, making it otherwise perfect for this application. |

Yes it's fairly easy, just drag the folder foobar is in.
I'd recommend installing it on a folder created on the desktop then install any mods there and drag it. |

There's no solution.I also would like to see an improved path handling. It would be ideal if fb2k recognizes the current music library in a different path instead of rescanning that path. I don't want a lot of playlists in my ipod. I use my ipod as a portable drive when I'm on a desktop (and rockbox when i'm away) to play music directly with foobar, with my media library set to f:/music, where f: is the ipod... I can't change the drive letter on all the computers I use because in some of them I have not administrator privileges... I would be great if the media library allow us something like Path: %foobar installation drive%/Music and set a kind of flag to know that is the same old library |

What I do is assign an uncommon letter to my music drive (M:),so chances are the letter is available on other computers. Once the drive is plugged on the other computer, I change the letter to M.

Well but that only works if you have administrative rights on that pc... At least in my school I can't do this with my account (they're running Windows 2000 SP4) so thats not an option at least not for me -------------------- flac 1.2.1 -8 (archive) | aoTuVb5.7 -q 4 (pc, s1mp3)
