The only way I can think of is ripping to wav with Windows media player... but I don't know if it utilizes the HDCD information when ripping. It's possible WMP only does that for playback.

Anyone know more about this?

Yes, all lossless operations will preserve HDCD information, but you will need receiver or player (if you burn your lossless files) with HDCD decoding support if you want 20bit playback.

Windows Media Player 9+ decodes HDCDs only in playback mode.

That's true, even if you mount the cue file in virtual drive and then open it with WMP it will show you the HDCD logo on its interface.

What I would like to know is how to know if an album is in HDCD if it doesn't bring its logo anywhere on the album. Because I have two versions of the same album, and one brings the HDCD logo on it and the other does not. The album is 'A Sceptic's Universe' by Spiral Architect. And I've got a normal version, which brings HDCD logo, and a Japan release version which brings no logo. The only way I found out if the Japan release was HDCD or not, was to put it on WMP and see if the HDCD logo appeared on its interface... and it did. But imagine that I've got more HDCDs that don't bear its logo anywhere on the package... How can I find out if it is HDCD without having to try it first in WMP? ['cause its boring to do that with WMP] Is there a special thing for EAC to recognize that or another software to find out more quickly? rolleyes.gif

Currently there is no software other than WMP to recognise HDCD, as it is a proprietary (closed) technology and nobody bothers to reverse engineer WMP's decoder. Decoders are only available for major audio hardware manufacturers.

You can also search through HDCD lists for your CD albums.
