What happened to the previous system of "Generic" and 2 different "ICL"?

As it is, the currently shown oggenc aoTuV b5, you said it's compiled using ICL9.1 ... what processor/optimization?

I'll answer this one.  When I switched to VC8 and ICL9.1, I tested the different versions on different systems and basically found that there was little, or no, difference in speed between them. Therefore, it seemed to me to be a waste of time and space to host the different versions. The testing was done on Athlon64, C2D E6400 and P4 2.8Northwood. I'll keep the 'generic'  VC compiled versions for the applications based on the 'standard' libs, but with the other libs, the other compiles will be 'retired'. That is, of course, unless someone can show me a good reason for it be otherwise.

Fair enough. Thus I will simplify the Recommended Ogg Vorbis page on the wiki.

Tying in with both this thread and the one pepoluan is mentioning, John, why aren't he Lancer builds either on or linked to from RareWares? It seems the Lancer builds are the best Ogg encoder currently out there, so, since RareWares is the best encoder/decoder site out there, it should be there
