Hi all, I'm sure this has been discussed already numerous times, but I can't seem to find a clear thread to how to actually do this. I basically d/l or rip music to FLAC, but for some reason I had the impression that EAC using LAME can be used to transcode FLAC to v0. Am I mistaken? I'm new to LAME so anything would be appreciated.
thanks! ls |

Do you mean converting FLAC to MP3 (using LAME @ V0)?
I suggest you use foobar for this, but there may be some other programs too. Just right click and select "convert" > "convert to" and then select LAME MP3 or something. If you click the "..." next to it, it will give you some options on what bitrate you want to use etc. Hope that helped. This post has been edited by Shunsuke_01: Jun 6 2008, 14:35 |

I think it's possible that EAC can be configured to convert flac to Lame simply because it uses Windows command line. However, it really doesn't make sense to do this considering that there are far better options, including those that have the ability to preserve tags.

excellent thank you very much! is there a way to do it for many albums? for example can I convert my whole FLAC collection or do I have to convert each album separately?

If you're using foobar you can drop all your files into one playlist and convert them all in one go.
You just need to ensure that the title formatting string you use to name the converted files does what you want. I use: [%album artist%\][%album%\][Disc %discnumber%\][%tracknumber% - ]%title%$if($meta(album artist),' ('$meta(artist)')',) As long as your files are tagged well enough then you can do something similar and not care that the files span different artists and albums. -------------------- I'm on a horse.
