A soundcard that supports bit perfect digital pass through, basically sends 1 and 0 to the receiver where all the processing is done, correct?

I am looking at this card with this driver. Am I correct in assuming this will send all audio from my computer "bit perfect" to my receiver???

Also, can anyone verify that the Trust card is full duplex?

Yes.

I own that exact soundcard and have used that driver. Another yes.

I've never tried it, but it says so in the downloadable PDF manual, so I guess that's another yes. smile.gif

thank you very much,

another quick question, this will work for for any codec that my receiver can process right? So if I am playing mp3's or flac through WMP, I will still get a bit perfect signal going to the receiver where it will be converted?

Usually, players decode themselves the audio, and send it in PCM to the digital out.
Windows Media player has an exception about WMA Pro (options-devices-speakers) to send that one as-is (without decoding) to the receiver, so that the latter does the decoding.

There is also a directshow decoder included with the ffdshow codecs named AC3Filter. This codec decodes AC3, DTS and mpeg (mp1/2/3) streams and allows to send those undecoded aswell. Of course, this will work only with directshow players.

Ok, so if I want to send undecoded mp3 and flac files to my receiver, I will need to be using a directshow player?

Is wmp a directshow player? if not what would be a good one to use?

Any player that works with a soundcard via the normal analogue outputs will output MP3 directly via the digital outputs. You just change a setting in the soundcard control panel to enable S/PDIF. I've successfully used Foobar2000, Winamp, WMP and many others. There are no special driver requirements for MP3, Vorbis, AAC, WAV, WMA, as long as the player supports playing them. smile.gif
