Hi folks,
I searched across the forum and internet to a solution for this problem, with no success. What happens is when playing in foobar 0.9.6.4 (and it happened in 0.9.6.1 to 0.9.6.3 too) the system suddenly stops responding. A major LAG takes place through out all the windows for +- 7 seconds. A minute later the lag happens again. But, for some strange reason, sometimes the lag waits until more than 10 minutes to happen again. When the lag is going on, foobar is the only window fully operable and, if I close foobar, the lag instantly disappears. If I use winamp or wmp, which I hate, the problem does not exist. In XP SP3 there was the problem. Then I made a new clean install of windows SP3 and the problem went on. Almost getting crazy, I made a new clean install of Windows SP2, this time, but the problem still goes on! Even with a clean installation (no matter either full install or portable) of foobar2000, without using ANY components, the LAG is present. My notebook is an ACER 3100 (Semprom 3400, 2,5 GB RAM and Realtek Audio). I've already used EVERY driver that I found for the sound card. I'm very grateful for your help! Royalshape |

Well, I don't see much point in continuing to redo / reinstall / things that you have already redone.
Any information in the console? If it were me.....I would temp shut down AV and / or Firewall programs. If problem remains, I would look into install a copy of process explorer. You can search here and find recent comments regarding usage. terry |

I don't know if this question applies to this forum now. But anyway if anyone can help, please. |

Make sure your hard drive uses DMA transfer mode. You could also see if disabling "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" from Device Manager under Batteries category helps.

Thanks Case, DMA is enabled and I disabled "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery". But I've just discovered an interesting fact: If i'm using headphones, there are absolutely NO LAGS. While not plugged-in, I provoke an LAG and then I right away plug the headphone's jack in and BOOM: LAG STOPS IMMEDIATELY! What do you get? |

If that's the case it sounds like audio driver issue. Update to latest Realtek HD drivers, link (external link, Realtek's site is usually horribly slow). Make sure to re-enable the battery device since that was no help. Otherwise the notebook won't have proper power saving features.
