hey there!
I recently found this old gem at an estate sale, purchased it for $10... it came with the original 9v AC adapter, a battery pack (6 C-cell batteries... Blechhh.) a shouldsr strap, and of course all the manuals an whatnot. it was new in box, as the original owner said. it was never used, and was on the side since it was bought to replace one that was in service if it ever broke... this was not the case since the one which this one was to replace was sitting inside the man's home theater cabinet working happily, albeit a bit scratched up from the wear and tear 24 years of service puts on it. I have carefully taken it out of the box and examined it and taken pictures:  I wasn't able to get a good picture of the underside, but the manufacturing date says October 1985. The device fully powers up, and reads a burnt Audio CD perfectly with no skips. Now from what I've read on the internet, this is supposedly te first compact/portable CD player. I do need a bit of clarification on that assumption. I also need to know how much something like this is worth. The value of this piece of equipment has been killed already by me taking it out of the box, but I don't think that will matter with a bit of sealing plastic >:D Can anyone help me determine the value of this wonderful CD player? If it's nothing I might as well use it; there's nothing wrong with it and it would be replacing my old D-4 which died about a year ago to a dead motor. |

Search on Head-Fi for past sales. A lot of people are into vintage PCDPs there.

When you sell it, make sure to say that this device has a DAC that is based on an "analog FFT hilbert space function" and not the "digital dithering jitter functions" of DACs today.
The price will go up quite a bit  as Axon said, try http://www.head-fi.org. There are plenty of collectors there who collect vintage stuff. |
