Are there any software out there that can determine where the source of a file was ripped or encoded from? I have some .ape files that was dl from random sites so i want to know where they came from.

Whoever encoded the files had complete control over what went into the tags, so that may or not tell you anything useful.

True Audio Analyzer can tell you if your WAVs were ripped from a CD or sourced from a lossy file. It can't tell you if it was ripped securely though.
