I prefer to tag my files in Mp3tag after extracting rather than have EAC tag my files, so my question is, is it safe to simply put "-V n" in the additional command line options box of EAC? Also, I've noticed on the LAME HA wiki page that the setting is typed "-Vn" in some sections and "-V n" in others, namely the tables. Is there any difference? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is something I should already know

Yes, and the EAC/Lame wiki entry explicitly tells you how to do this. wink.gif

The space is optional.

What should be said about the wiki article is that it is geared towards 3.97. With 3.98, --vbr-new is no longer necessary nor is the use of --ignore-tag-errors.

thanks alot, i really appreciate it. One final question, I noticed on the EAC/Lame wiki page that all of the sample strings contained %s and %d place holders. Do I need these, or any of the others that are listed in the EAC FAQ? From what I understood in the FAQ, these are only needed if you decide to use them rather than selecting the options manually in the compression options?

Yes they're needed. There's nothing in the wiki article indicating that they are optional.

The newer VBR code is now LAME's default VBR routine

Note: The switch --vbr-new, which enabled a superior VBR mode in LAME 3.97 and some previous versions, is no longer needed with LAME 3.98 as it is now the default VBR mode. However, if you're still using LAME 3.97 or older, you have to add --vbr-new to your commandline to use that mode.
