Cue Sheet ISRC and CATALOG values

Ripping some cd's with EAC.
A couple of things that I'm confused on. First, are the ISRC codes like the ones in the cue sheet below.

I was under the impression the first two characters are the country code. This is a U.S. release, shouldn't the values start with 'US'? Are these probably wrong?

Secondly, the above cue sheet doesn't have a CATALOG entry, however, I have read these have to be 13 characters and are based on UPC codes. In the U.S., UPC codes are 8 or 12 characters. What am I missing here?

Thanks for the help.

Cue Sheet ISRC and CATALOG values

You have a Lite-ON drive? I am having a similar problem with a Lite-ON eSAU08 external drive, down to H2 instead of US. It's not EAC's fault; ImgBurn is giving me the same (wrong) ISRCs if I rip an image.

Writing ISRCs, however, is working correctly (if I correct the cue sheet using information from another drive).

According to Wikipedia International Standard Recording Code, the first 2 chars represents the "registrant two-character ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code". So the release country doesn't have an effect on this. E.g. I recently received 2 Japan pressings of Manic Street Preachers albums and those have GB in the first 2 chars of ISRC's.

Quick visit to googlerator revealed a link where somebody with a Plextor drive got similar results as you. "I have been informed by one of the engineers that the problem is in fact, a firmware bug." Have you got a Plextor drive and can you upgrade the firmware? That could correct your problem.

Some CD's do not have the CATALOG code. Some drives/softwares could not be able to read those. And finally, very importantly, the codes in CD's are not always correct*! So don't rely on that. I've seen many wrong EAN/UPC codes in cuesheets. EDIT: I use REACT and it's "additional metadata" feature (in new mods) to add correct EAN/UPC code to tags (REACT puts the info also to cuesheet as well).

EDIT: * as in that it's not the same as the booklet EAN/UPC code.
