ALAC decoder and Hi-Res file

Hi,

I'm a FooBar 2000 user. Form few day I would like to play some files coded in M4A from a Mac (10.6.1 system with QT X). THis files are in high resolution 24 bit 96 Khz. I use an external fw device: AudoiFire 4.
If I play same file converted on flac (with sema resolution) or on wev all it's OK, when I try to use m4a format I've and error due corrupted file, but
if I play this files on Mac all it's OK.

I see that ALAC decoder plug-in works fine with 16bit/44.1 Khz but no with 24bit/96Khz.

Have you got any idea?

Regards.

The ALAC decoder components doesn't work with 24bit files.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

The reference, an open source player, does support 24-bit files now, but like with 16-bit, only mono or stereo.

There is no ETA on when this will be supported.

Do you mean "foobar2000 ALAC decoder limit" ? At least it support 16/48 and 16/96 ALAC files.

I am having the same problem. The only way to play ALAC on a PC without using QuickTime (that I have found) is to use the Foobar 2000 plug-in.

It seems that Peter is the main developer and has made the ALAC plug-in. Now that the 24-bit version of the ALAC decoder is available at:

http://craz.net/programs/itunes/alac.html

would it be possible for Peter to upgrade the plug-in? Please?

I am not a programmer and have no idea how to do this. Is there anyone else who can help?

Then click on "Send Message" link.

But, since ALAC decoder for foobar2000 is 2-3 times slower than ALAC decoder for e.g. Winamp... I don't think ALAC decoding is too important for him.

THX.

I try in any case... I'm music-lover / audiophile and I use a PC with a tunned Windows XP, FooBar and a Echo AufioFire 4 with good results.

Bye.
