Hello,
I know this FAQ very well I updated my tags, but foobar still shows the old tags. QUOTE This happens almost exclusively when you use a third party program to update tags (updates made by Foobar2000 itself are immediately reflected). Select the file(s), right click on any of them, go to Tagging, then click on "Reload Info from File(s)". But... 1) I don't have "Reload Info from File(s)" in "Tagging" menu. 2) Is there any way how to refresh tags everytime when they are loaded to Playlist. |

1) Preferences -> Display -> Context Menu. Add "Reload Info from File(s)" command.
2) I doubt it. |

Thank you, but "Reload Info from File(s)" still doesn't work.
I added it to context menu and applied to files but there are still old tags. |

Maybe your (MP3 ?) files have both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, and ID3v1 tag was updated but fb2k reads old ID3v2 tag?

You got it.
I changed setting of my tagging program to write only ID3v2 in the past. I hoped that it deletes ID3v1 tags automatically during editation. Dot it doesn't. Thanky you for excellent acumen and sorry for this thread. But it wasn't totally useless. Wiki should be edited how to add feature: QUOTE 1) Preferences -> Display -> Context Menu. Add "Reload Info from File(s)" command.

When id3v1 and 1d3v2 tags aren't the same, foobar2000 will read and display the longer of the two value, with the assumption that the shorter value is clipped or damaged.

That's realy strange. I doubt that all of old ID3v1 were longer than newer ID3v2.

Don't know if it still works this way, but a couple of years ago, when I had both ID3v1 tags AND ID3v2 tags in files, foobar would default to reading the ID3v1 tags.
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....04&hl=garym I've long since removed all ID3v1 tags from all my files as most modern programs/players can deal with v2 tags. |

I have the same problem. Foobar (I'm using v0.9.6.8) keeps old tag data even if I do "Reload Info from file(s)". How is this possible? I've removed all tags using my own program (i've checked by MPEGAudioInfo and Winamp that there is no tags for sure), then I've added only ID3v2 tag with different (I've changed song title) and reduced (I've removed album title) info comparing to orginal tag. Foobar didn't update tag information at all - album title wasn't empty and there was old title. I've also tried to do the same removing Tag using Winamp. Same result. It seem to be a bug in foobar. Hope that this would be fixed in future...

What does fb2k show when the file is "clean", still any old tags? What's under file's Properties under "General > Tag Type"? Does your program update the last modified timestamp - that's how the changes are noticed, obviously?

mp3 doesn't have an official tagging standard like mp4/aac or ogg/Vorbis or just about any other format. So any number of different "standards" (id3v1; id3v1.1; id3v2.2; id3v2.3; id3v2.4; APEv2) have been added to the format to try to compete to be the "de facto" mp3 tagging standard.
The "de facto" end result is basically a mess. This post has been edited by shakey_snake: Nov 17 2009, 03:44 -------------------- Calmer than you are, Dude.
