Playback changes to current viewed folder Options

I have an issue with foobar. Ok.... while I am enjoying an album I like to go off and edit other folders, editing tags etc ..but as I am doing this and the song finishes on the original album/folder the playback changes to the currently viewed folder, the one I'm editing. I don't what this to happen, I want to finish listening to the original album. How do I fix this?
I'm using Xp with foobar2000v0.9.6.6 with this layout:-

You need to turn off the library viewer playlist (prefs->Media Library) or you need to rename your playlist with the items you want to play before selecting something else in a library viewer.

but I use the library viewer!!! I did try turning it off it didn't change anything
Also renaming the playlist didn't work.
Wouldn't this be a common problem for foobar users? To not be able to listen to an album while fixing other album tags at the same time :S

Of course....but it is not - so there is something up with your setup.

It was checked, then I tried it unchecked and still no good :S

You must not be understanding something properly.

Basically when you start playback from your library viewer (album list) it adds the items to the library viewer selection playlist. When you select something different in your library viewer it will (with certain settings enabled) overwrite the library viewer selection playlist and play whatever is now shown soon the current track ends.

How to turn this automatic overwrite of the library viewer selection playlist off was already mentioned in this thread.
Alternatively you can try this:
-make sure playback>playback follows cursor is not checked
-restore the overwritten media library selection playlist content with ctrl+z or menu>edit>undo
-make a new playlist off the items you want to edit

Ok I've tried all of these ideas and none of them work, when I woke up this morning I was thinking about it and I thought, yeah make a new playlist one for 'now playing' and one for 'editing', I tried this but it didn't work, I've tried checking and unchecking all the boxes mentioned but still nothing.
After I made a new playlist (editing) I went to the original 'now playing' list and added from the album list what I wanted. I started playback. I clicked the next tab 'Editing' and selected an album and as soon as I did the tab flicked back to 'now playing' and changed the 'now playing' album to the one I want to edit. If I can get the tabs to remain separate and work independently then everything will be fine.

That's what the Library Selection playlist does. Turn it off in the Preferences (as I've previously instructed) if you don't want that behavior.

Yes I know, but I also replied with, I use the library selection playlist, it's where I do my editing :S
There must be a way to be able to have two independent playlist folders open one for listening and one for editing. If you can safely tell me that it's not possible then I'll just go and use another player than can, which would suck because I really like foobar and it's easy and fast at editing tags.
I've tried my best to explain my situation :S ...is there any other way????

Playlists are always independent. If you do your editing in your library viewer selection playlist while actually playing the very same playlist, then it's to be expected that foobar will play what you are editing. Just put the stuff you want to edit in a different playlist without replacing the content of the library viewer selection playlist.

This is what i meant with "without replacing the content of the library viewer selection playlist". Selecting something ins Album List does just that, even if you only right click or drag and drop something from album list to a playlist.
Personally i don't like that behavior since i get the same problem you are experiencing.

Maybe you could give foo_facets a try. It's a different library viewer which behaves slightly different than Album List.
In Facets options you can change what happens when you select an item. If you set it to "selection change: none" in the options>media library>facets then you can freely browse your library in facets and drag the items you want to edit to a new playlist, without replacing the library viewer selection playlist. Album list is missing such an option unfortunatly (unless you disable the library viewer selection playlist altogether).

I think the only way around it is to turn off the library viewer selection playlist. Go to Preferences>media library, then at the bottom uncheck enabled. Then go to album list preferences (just below media library) and change double click action to send to current playlist, and uncheck start playback when sending to playlist. Then you will have to double click everything instead of single click, but you will get the behaviour you want (i.e. when you create a new playlist called Editing, double clicking something in the album list will send it there, leaving your now playing playlist alone).

I think the only other option is to turn off the library viewer selection playlist, then make sure |%title% (or |%tracknumber% %title%) is on the end of your preferred album list view, and do all of your editing in the album list itself, rather than a playlist.

Well, if you're a masochist, then there's nothing we can do to help you.

It's pretty simple to create playlists to edit from without the LVSP (Ctrl+Enter or configure an appropriate double-click action)

I think using Elplaylist is an option for you. It has the ability to have one playlist dedicated to Now Playing and others that you can edit in.

Maybe i didn't word it good enough. I believe OPs problem is tied to album lists unability to disable the update of the media library playlist when simply selecting something in album list. The only way would be to disable the media library playlist altogether which OP appearently does not want.
This problem is not present in facets since it has options for playlist interaction, so i recommend it.

I realize we all use Foobar in differing ways.

Almost exclusively, I do NOT use the library viewer playlist as a currently now playing playlist. I do have the library viewer playlist activated and let it change the contents of it's playlist every time I click within the Album list. I use the Library Viewer Playlist as my edit metadata playlist. Any other playlist that is playing goes about it's business - one track after another - without my editing causing any issues.

Now, a little more detail. I have a playlist tabbed element with multiple playlist tabs and I use a Tabbed UI element on the left side that houses many things. Some of the tabs are used for both the Album list and multiple Facets elements as library browser / viewer - each in their own tab.

With Facets loaded and used for the first time, I get a playlist named Facet auto created. At this point I just delete the auto created playlist named Library Viewer. The album list will happily use the facets playlist.

The above never plays tracks that I do not intend.

Various settings. Preferences:

Media Library
Library Viewer Selection Playlist - checked
Activate when changed - not checked

Album list
Playlist interaction
nothing checked

Facets
Selection Change = None
Double click = Send to Facets
Start playback - Not checked

Menu item Playback

Cursor follows playback - Checked [only option checked]
