After being in development for about a year, Speex has finally reached 1.0, which means that the bit-stream is now officially frozen. I think it's a great step towards open formats and voice over IP in general. I'd like to thank all those who contributed to Speex either by reporting and fixing bugs, by writing plugins or by letting peeple know about the project. Read the press release for more details.

Nice, time to re-encode few files
I updated my plugin/filter/components and uploaded smaller compiles of win32 binaries for encoder and decoder. |

From the latest Ogg Traffic:
QUOTE 4.3. WinAmp needs You! Nullsoft, the makers of Winamp, have agreed to let Xiph.org work on Ogg support in the new version of Winamp. Unfortunately, we're all really busy, so we need help. If you think you are the right person for the job, please don't hesitate and contact Emmett at emmett@xiph.org. Is Xiph going to develop a new Vorbis PlugIn from scratch or base its work on Peter's PlugIn? Anyway... great work with Speex and thanks for spending time on developing great open technology! dev0 -------------------- "To understand me, you'll have to swallow a world." Or maybe your words.

in speexdrop, the complexity 0-10 is where 0 is higher quality and 10 is less (performance/speed ratio)? |

No, the range is 1 to 10, where 1 is fast, lower quality and 10 is slow, higher quality. In practice, 3 is a good choice. |
