Wasn't sure where to pop this post as I could not see a Mini Disc section. Anyway I was wondering what the quality standards are like in both slow & long play comparable with say an MP3 as I cant really think of another one. I have loads of stuff on Mini Disc & I was going to start transferring it however I don't really want to waste my time if it has a low bitrate.

MD uses the ATRAC format from Sony (hence other lossy codecs). IIRC ATRAC came out last or close to last in most listening tests here on HA. A quick trip to google lead me to this HA thread: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=50355
It has some relevant info if I get your question. |
