foo_playcount randomly forgets songs?

out of about 8000 songs, most are registered as "added 2009-10-08 23:00:02" which is when i installed it

however, i noticed the other day about 30 songs (25 of which i havnt touched in years) are registered to "2010-10-12 11:20:19" all play data for these songs is reset, and my ratings are reset to "?"

this is happened before, except last time it was 80% of the songs switched to feb 22nd

im on version 3.0.1 and the latest stable version of foobar.

any idea why this is happening and/or how to stop it?

Are they in your media library or otherwise in a resident playlist? The new playback statistics component will forget tracks it hasn't seen for 4 weeks or more. Tracks which are in an active playlist or in the media library count as seen.

thank you for the reply.

my media library automatically supposed to keep track of "C:\Users\Kougeru\Music"  which they're ALL in. about 4 of the songs i actually added just a week prior. a good 15 of them i have not touched for years but are still in the same directory.

another strange thing is that i fixed the tags on around 7 of the older ones (about a month before) that i DO have on my main playlist. I thought this might be the cause but then I remembered i also changed the tags on around 50 songs from another artist and none of those were reset.

overall it seems that random songs that SHOULD have been refreshed, some of which I've listened to in the last few weeks, are being forgotten.  Every song on my computer is in my media library so I'm confused.

after looking at more files, that have NOT been reset...they do however have their "last modified" on the file data listed as oct 12

it seems around 30% of my files  are like this. the rest are normal

another random song has done this now. all have been in my playlist forever and what not. this is destroying the point of playback stats

I can confirm Kougeru's problem because I also have it. Songs that have been rated before "loose" rating and playcount after a while and randomly.

All tracks are in the media library, playlist and in one folder. Is there anything that I should know? Does foo_playcount "forget" the Information after a while? What really confuses me is that the information is directly written to the files but still foo_playcount forgets the information.

[shot in the dark]

I don't know if this will help, but I had a track that lost its playcount data the other day. What caused it was that it had ape tags as well as ID3 (somehow the ape tag had changed???), once I removed the ape tags the playcount data returned.

If the files that lose their playcount data are MP3, check:

Context menu > Tagging > MP3 Tag Types

C.
PC = TAK + LossyWAV  ::  Portable = Opus (130)

This issue just happened yet again. Everything is the same, random files have had their data reset....and EVERY file is listed as "last modified , April 27th". I'm not sure what happened that day, for some reason only a few of the files had restore to previous version options. Some of them had the option to restore to April 27th , and only april 27th but apparently it was AFTER they were modified so it didnt help at all.

I got more exact numbers this time. On april 27th, 3769 files...out of 6612 were edited on April 27th within several minutes time. It seems that there's about 5 files being edited per second during that time frame. After doing some thinking and reading some chat logs from that point of time, I realize that's around the time that I updated foobar to the newest version....and also around the time I did a full playlist replay gain scan. My playlist is is 4431 files in size so it seems about right (there are some files modified after the fact, but those from updating playback stats).

So I've narrowed it down to either the upgrade, or the full playlist replaygain scan messing with random files and resetting their statistic data. MOST files were unaffected which is the weird part, but they were all listed as "modified" on Mp3Tag. Does anyone have any concrete idea as to why this would happen and how to prevent it from happening in the future?  My knowledge in technology is limited to hardware.

and about a year later it happens again..very minor this time though. I was listening to a track I hadn't listened to since last May and instead of updating to "last played 04-02 00:32" it completely reset its played data, rating, ect. Luckly, I had a single restore point...from July, and since I hadn't listened to the song since May..nothing was truly lost but most my other songs I would've lost a lot of data. As usual, I'm still not sure WHY this happened...I haven't changed anything in months.
