foobar2000 v1.1.1 beta 2

Hi all,

the second beta version of foobar2000 v1.1.1 was released a while ago.
This version is a minor maintenance update.

Changes since v1.1:
  • Improved first run experience
      · With standard (non-portable) installs, foobar2000 Media Library defaults to indexing your music folders indexed by Windows itself.
      · Resetting Media Library preferences changes watched paths to the default, Windows ones too (on nonportable installs only).
  • Improved compatibility with broken MP4 files.
      · A trailing ID3v1 tag doesn't make the file unreadable anymore.
      · ID3v1 tags are removed from MP4 files on tag update for compatibility (will be logged in console).
      · File Verifier reports more errors with more information about broken MP4 files.
  • Added support for .ogx extension (multiplexed Ogg files).
  • Removed the "foobar2000 is scanning your library, please wait" dialog in favor of ML scanning after full startup and populating ML viewers etc. progressively later.
  • Search filters and File Operations now use browse info properly (= e.g. foo_upnp remote metadata).
  • Installer automatically restarts foobar2000 after installation if it was running before.
  • Fixed a rare crash when closing the Preferences dialog in specific conditions.
  • HTTPS support in networking services
      · This is mainly relevant to component developers. You can now access HTTPS URLs through filesystem and http_client services.
  • Corrected erroneously swapped "Invalid data, received line length exceeds limit" and "Invalid data, full line expected" error messages.

You can download the beta from the official website.

One of the implications of this is that you can now use foo_upnp to copy files between machines in cases not requiring conversion. This is a feature that I find quite useful!

Yeah, could yourself or Yirhka please expand on this point? I still don't fully understand it.

If I understand this right, an UPnP item is for example just a MP3 HTTP stream with no tag info at all and foo_upnp supplies additional metadata, added over a different channel, using something called internally "browse info". Apparently most of the displaying etc. parts of fb2k have already used it since it was introduced, but e.g. File Operations did not and so they did not see the tags for you to save/copy remote UPnP items using patters like "%artist% - %title%" etc.

The only change since beta 2 is a fix for [a href='index.php?showtopic=84066']this obscure problem[/a].
