Hi guys,
I'd really use some guidance for a student assignment. During the semester, I have to study everything about the MP3 format. At the end of the semester, I have to hold a lecture on it and respond to questions. Compression, decompression, etc, all aspects that revolve around this format. What would be the steps and resources I could use in order to study about MP3 in-depth, in your opinion? Do you know any books, websites? I have to go quite low-level, so for example, I have to understand where does the Fourier Transformation is involved and how, and things like this. Many thanks. Thanks guys for your input.
@saratoga Yes, it's a reasonable suggestion. Unfortunately I'm studying in Romania and the university library only has books written by teachers that aid to their classes. This is somewhat of a research task that goes on top of the regular class and I can't find documentation at the library. I have to stick to the internet and e-books. If any book that addresses this subject comes to you off the top of your head, please name it and I will try finding an electronic version. @Speedskater There are more than 50 pages to study, there is a good chance I will find something that would help. @DVDdoug My major is Computer Science. The first link provided seems tremendously helpful at first glance. And yeah, I'll also look into the LAME source code, it should provide useful information about the processes that occur. |
