encode all wav files in one go

Hi, I'm new here just to find the answer on one question I can't find anywhere else:
Is it possible with LAME to encode all the wave files in one folder to mp3 in one go? Using the command line.

Strange enough, when I give the command:

lame -V 0 *.wav

it stops after one file.
What am I doing wrong?

I hope somebody can help me out.
