I am having more struggles.... ImgBurn won't open my EAC cue sheets to burn my my FLAC and ALAC files, so I did some reading and learned I need DirectShow filters installed on my computer, I think to convert these formats to the audio form that can be used by ImgBurn for burning CDs. So I downloaded and installed the "DC-Bass Source Filter" from here: ( http://dsp-worx.de/?n=15 ) and now I get a different message when I try to open the cue sheet in ImgBurn: "The program can't start because OptimFROG.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this program." I don't know why I need OptimFROG for FLAC and ALAC files. I downloaded it anyway, but can't figure out what to do with it. .....Thanks! |

The EAC Lossless Backup wiki says: "While [Exact Audio Copy] extracts the CD open the cue Sheet that it made with a text editor such as notepad and run find/replace and replace .wav and WAVE with the files extension you used for compression (ie for FLAC replace it with ".flac" and "FLAC" or for Apple Lossless replace it with ".m4a" and "Apple Lossless"). [...] When the CD is done extracting and compressing the CUE can now be used to write a CD using a program that is compatable with EAC's noncompliant CUE sheets such as burrrn (Nero will not work unfortunately)." For the CDs I have ripped thus far, I have been editing the cue sheets, replacing ".wav" and "WAVE" with ".flac" and "FLAC" as instructed, but I just discovered that EAC cannot use FLAC files for writing, meaning I have to separately decode them to WAVE first or use other burning software. I am guessing the above wiki instruction to edit the cue sheets in this way was written with burrrn in mind as the CD writing software (since it didn't work for EAC). So maybe I should give burrrn a try. Is my guess correct -- does burrrn allow for easy decompressing/writing of FLAC files? Also, is 1.14 Beta 2 the latest version? I am not able to get on the actual burrrn website at the moment due to a "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" problem with the site. I see 1.14 Beta 2 offered elsewhere and am just wondering if that is in fact the latest version because it appears to be very old. If neither burrrn, ImgBurn, or EAC will work for easy decompressing/writing of FLAC files, does anyone know of software that will? I am hoping to make it as simple as possible so that my mom will not have to manually decompress FLAC files to WAV before burning CDs. Thanks. |
