First post here. Hi everybody.
I did exactly what was told in the how-to post. The problem seems to be with the tagger. I get a file, but it has no tag whatsoever, and possibly no header at all. It doesn't play in foobar and it doesn't show its bitrate. I have the latest EAC version and the latest NeroAAC encoder. Any advice?
Thanks a lot.

Yes. Post a log file.
Check the link again as well. I made some edits that you should probably try before posting a log...

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=44310I'm also having trouble writing any tags to my AAC fille.
The following is exactly what I have in my "Additional command line options:"
/c ""C:\Program Files\Exact Audio b.99\neroaacenc.exe" -q 0.425 -if %s -of %d && "C:\Program Files\Exact Audio b.99\Neroaactag.exe" %d -meta:artist="%a" -meta:album="%g" -meta:track="%n" -meta:title="%t" -meta:genre="%m" -meta:year="%y""
The path seems correct; the file does compress and neroaacenc.exe and Neroaactag.exe are in the same folder. There's no error return code. However, the compressed AAC file has no tags (and seems to play but I can't hear it). I can use EAC to rip the same file from the CD and get an MP3 that does have tags. See anything wrong with the code? I really had some trouble getting these options to work because evidently some quotes are missing in other instructions I found.

Yes. Post a log file.
I'm not the original poster, but another with similar problems. Here's my log file (below). I notice that the command line options appears to be truncated in the log. What seems to be cut off is: eta:year="%y"", but maybe that's just the way it's displayed.
Edit note: PS -- Tried again this morning with a different CD with the same result; the compressed file plays OK but there are NO tags. Note that this time I also tried leaving out the last couple of tags so the command line options were NOT truncated in the log file. This made no difference, still no tags in the output file.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I tried unchecking "Add ID3 tag". I also left out the last couple of tags so that the command line was not truncated in the log. However, I still don't see any tags in the compressed file. Below is the log from this last attempt:

What are you using to see if your files have tags?
I tried your command line and it worked just fine.
EDIT1: I even used your artist, album, track information and paths to make sure there was no issue with the unicode or directory depth.
EDIT2: I'm not one of those people who continually upgrades to the most recent versions of things. I verified that my files were properly tagged using Winamp 5.35, foobar2000 0.9.4, Mp3tag 2.40 and iTunes 4.6.

I'm using "foobar 2000 v0.9.6 beta 5". I haven't 't tried it in Rockbox yet.

Just tried it on my player with Rockbox -- still no tags show up. When I check an MP3 track recently ripped with EAC, I CAN see tag information. The AAC file simply does not have any tags.
Oh well, perhaps AAC isn't worth the tagging trouble. Thought I'd try because recent listening tests (from what I can tell) seem to indicate that the quality/size of AAC is better than MP3 and as good or maybe better than Vorbis. I can get tags with Vorbis.

I just tried your command line in EAC with a few tracks and the tags showed up in the latest versions of foobar2000, iTunes, and QuickTime. I used the latest version of EAC and Nero AAC encoder as well. Something isn't right on your end.

I doubt that I could see the missing tags simply by using older versions of the program you mentioned, but this is strange, so who knows, maybe I should check. Seem more likely the version of EAC is relevant, but you surely would have noticed that difference, since that information is at the top of the log file. (Didn't the first poster also refer to using v0.99?) I'd try the older version of EAC if that IS what you're using, but otherwise it's not worth having to copy all the options & commands. Loading a profile saved by the newer EAC seems to crash EAC V0.95beta4.
For all of my previous tries, I was running under Leopard using WinXP with Parallels. However, I just tried it after starting up with only XP in Bootcamp; that make no difference, still no tags.
Edit: Just saw that last post after I sent this one. OK, I'm really mystified. I can't think of anything else to check -- any ideas?

EAC V0.99 vs. V0.95 does not matter.

Nothing matters, AAC tagging with EAC doesn't work for me. I can rip and tag OGG and MP3 just fine, so I'm giving up on AAC.
