Full Version: Getting the option Mono in ItunesEncode

Hi,

I encountered a problem with a disc which is recorded in Mono. I use ItunesEncode and the following options line in EAC : -e "Lossless Encoder" -a "%a" -l "%g" -t "%t" -g "%m" -y %y -n %n -i %s -o %d -d

I would like to know what must I change to have a mono-encoded file.

Thank you smile.gif

You cannot force mono/stereo onto your files if you are using Apple Lossless.

Even if you could force mono encoding, if the lossless codec is designed correctly there should be no difference in file size between that and a stereo encoding.

Yes but the problem is that my file is in Stereo at the end of the process sad.gif

Can I hope that it's "fake" stereo (the two channels are identical)?

If the two channels were identical going in then they will be identical going out, all part of being "lossless".

... a disc which is recorded in Mono. ...

If you're talking about an official audio CD, that just means the source material was mono. But all CDs are mastered in 2 channels per the Red Book CDDA specifications.

Whether the two chans are exactly identical or not is another story. They may actually be slightly different, either intentionally or unintentionally.
