Full Version: Hydrogen Audio: Over 100,000 posts!
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Hydrogenaudio Forum > Validated News

The Hydrogenaudio.org members can now celebrate 100,000 posts on this forum! This immense number was reached today, roughly 1 year and 8 months after the launch of Hydrogen Audio, or HA as we like to call it. I'm looking forward to the next 100,000 posts here in this great community... who knows, maybe in half the time?

Coming up are some statistics about where the most posts were going (i totaled up the subforums):

That's an enormous amount of posts, imho!

Considering that there is no Google engine to use for searching within all these posts (built-in search is pathetic at best), I wonder if there should be a possibility to remove old posts or at least archive them. A LOT OF the posts on HA are totally irrelevant and some are "useless" and "unhelpful". I'm not sure if Invision Boards support this feature but I guess that for each newly created thread the author must decide the lifespan of the thread after the last reply has been posted, and after that date the thread should be archived or removed altogether.

I also wonder if board should be regulated more than it is right now and probably threads that can be considered as "useful" to public must be closed or at least cleaned up from posts that have contents similar to
"Oh, Yes"
"I'm Glad"
"That's sucks"
etc
which probably account to the majority of posts on HA (though I may not be totally sure about that).

Or posts concerning version 0.0000001 of some foobar1999 program or anything like that.

Congratulations!

Is it possible to locate that 100.000th post? The poster will be interviewed and a picture of him will replace the Hydrogen Audio banner for two weeks. wink.gif

44,100 is still fresh in my memory. 100,000 now?!? I am getting behind! wink.gif
It is not 'peanuts' to keep a booming forum attractive for everyone (incl. early members). I am happy to see that we succeed well at keeping this a great place.
Thanks to all operators for your non-stop effort. smile.gif I think I can speak in the name of all members. smile.gif

Hey, wait... the fb2k posts aren't supposed to be included, that's a different forum altogether! That's like including all of the posts from the r3mix forum, Dibrom said it himself! We've still got another 11,000 posts to go! (*starts running around, snatching people's party hats from their heads*)

@Surge: I sure hope the mods don't start deleting posts they consider "not informative enough." And self-destructing threads sound like a dreadful idea; I find useful information in year-old threads often enough when I search that I'd hate to lose them! Or maybe I can find year-old information because I remember everything that's been said on these forums... ph34r.gif If you want centralized, undiluted information, just wait until you see the HA in-depth FAQ... It's been in planning/development for over a year, so it's gotta be good!

P.S. I'm waiting for YinYang redux... laugh.gif

Edit: added a source to back up my claims. wink.gif

What I'm suggesting is a creation of "Archive" part of the forum. Many sites use this feature and I think it is very useful.
Another suggestion would be more effective topic merging by the moderators, say there are now 10 threads about M-Audio Revolution sound card, so instead of having 10 threads - 1 merged thread but with relevant information is a way to go, imho. And this is true for manu topics. Since there are not that many "moderators" in existance right now, may be a few more volunteers for each subtopic - a few for Ogg, a few mp3, etc. These moderators will know what is located where approxamely and then merge on "as needed" basis.

Also billion post threads such as "what I'm listening this exact second" may be removed completely in the future after everyone who wanted have posted their "Yo".

True, but the fb2k forum is a part of the HA network. It's just not HA itself. I suppose I should emphasize the point that the HA network policies (which I've never publically defined) and the HA forum policies are not necessarily the same.

So basically, the HA network has reached a new milestone so to speak even if the HA forums themselves have not technically reached 100,000 posts smile.gif

Thanks everyone! smile.gif

Should work fine. Or at least it used to.. google recently had somewhere around 9600 threads from HA cataloged in the search engine but they seem to have disappeared in the last week or so.

So the 100.000th post of HA is about a firewall (and the one I'm using)... it's funny... laugh.gif
Edit: And it's even more impressive the increase of the foobar forum.

Well we have this.

I have never posted there, but it has 994 posts and almost 13000 page views.
The top five posters have posted 361 posts there.
The top two posters have 89 and 88 posts, respectively.
Three of the top five posters in that thread have more then halve their posts in that thread.

Oh well it is't as spammity as that thread Cobra linked too. dry.gif

Yes, this thread is best place for boosting post count w/o trolling smile.gif
Pio2001
If I'm not mistaken, posting in the off topic section doesn't increase the post count.
