Since the search feature on this board always refuses to look on "cue" (and since I'm plain lazy), i'll have to bug you guys with this:

is there any front-end to Lame that can use one big WAV file as input and generate separate MP3s as output, using a .cue file as reference?

i backup my CDs by creating a "data" copy i.e. rip 'em to a big wav file with cue file and burn those two to cd-r. that's why such a front-end would be really nifty...

any thoughts?

edit: FYI I do know about the mp3CUE tool and it's not what I'm looking for, I want to create separate MP3 files.

Again (see other 'cue'-thread), EAC is what you want (www.exactaudiocopy.de):
Tools -> Split WAV by CUE sheet... (don't know whether EAC supports command line interface for this)
After this you can encode the splitted WAVs.

Maybe (no experience on the matter) Winamp + cue input plugin + MP3-encoder output plugin?

You can circumvent that 4-letter limit by entering "*cue" as the search string.

thx for the info guys, just noticed that my subject for this thread was kinda weird should have said CUE of course.

other question: would it perhaps not be possible to write a front-end for lame so that you can feed the wave data directly to Lame within the boundaries of each track (of course it would, the question is how difficult would it be)?

i believe there's a switch in Lame you can use to feed it streaming Wave data (don't know which one anymore), so all the proggie has to do is take the starting position from a track out of the cue file, start feeding Lame with wave data and make it stop when you reach the ending position according to the .cue file...

as usual, it sounds so simple

any thoughts?
