whats the difference between the 2?
meischder
ASIO is a output technoligy which is working in some ways like Kernelstreaming, but is a licensed product from Steinberg technologies, Kernel Streaming is open source, as i think.. Both technnologies stream the audio data direct to the music processor by bypassing the windowsmixer (--> "CAN" improve quality in some cases). Might somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

Kernel Streaming is not "Open Source". Kernel Streaming is part of the Windows device model.

I see. rolleyes.gif

ASIO is more likely to output the data totally unprocessed to the card converters, since low latency requirements would go against any kind of internal card processing.

For example, kernel streaming in Creative cards accepts 44.1 KHz data, and in fact this data gets resampled to 48 KHz 16-bit internally by the card. However, they only accept 48 KHz 16 bit in ASIO (IIRC 96 KHz too in case of Audigy 2 cards).

I guess there are no ASIO drivers for ALC650, right..

Try ASIO4ALL laugh.gif

Well I might aswell use KS output then;p Cause from what I understand ASIO2ALL does ASIO2KS mapping, right?
