Full Version: Feature Request: different tags of mp3s

Up to now I wonder why it is not possible to see and modify all tags of an mp3-file.
For instance, if the mp3-file is tagged with ID3V1 and APEV2 only APEV2 is shown.
I think it is very useful to have something like the following file-info:

===============================
Tags found: APEV2, ID3 V1.1 (, ID3 V2.? - when PlugIn is loaded)

[APEV2]
....
[ID3 V1.1]
....
[ID3 V2.?] (only if ID3V2-PlugIn is loaded)
...

===============================

For title-formating (playlist, statusbar, etc.) a %token% could give the possibility to use/select each tag-type (and have access to it).
If the selected tag-type is not available, the next tag-type %token% will be used instead.
For instance use APEV2 for title-formating and substituted ID3 V1.1 if file does not have APEV2 (but ID3 V1.1).

@all of community: Have a nice weekend - I will drive home to celebrate the birthday of a friend (born on Friday the 13th). Time to abolish some beer :-)
Question to win a lot of $dollars$ : what's the age of my friend?rolleyes.gif

I am not quite sure that it's possible... I remember kode54 saying something about it here.

As I understand the answer of Kode54 foobar writes any tag-info into the database and takes the info from database when the user want to see the metadata by choosing 'show file info' (if APEV2 is present APEV2 is taken (into database) otherwise ID3).
What about enlarging the database-entries (will blow up the database unneccessarily (too much or same entries)) or read the tag again and guide the stream to file-info box directly without any database-visit.
Ok, very poor suggestions but I just wanted to use different comment-fieds:

ID3: ...whatever... (<= shown by every player, also standalone) ApeV2: further information about file - for instance: EAC secure, LAME 3.90.3 --aps

At the moment I have to use APE-comments with multiple lines to see both informations (didn't know how to do multiple lines at the time of my 1st post) - it's ok and all I want.
Nevertheless ID3 and APEV2 at same time would be fine...

very useful

I agree. That way you could classify & display more arbitrary data that exists as a tag in a file, like VBRI tags and LAME tags.

Born in either 1998, 1992, 1987, 1981, 1970.. The list goes on..

Discount 98, 92 and 87 as too young to drink (legally).. could be 21/22 or 32/33 ..

I agree too that it would be great if it's possible.

I too would like to see this feature implemented in foobar (if it's possible, that is).
