I think it's time to change my speakers. I consider the interest of buying a new good 2.1 speaker system for music listening mainly (no need for a 4.1 or 5.1 because I don't watch dvd and don't play games a lot).

Do you own one? If yes, are you satisfied? Which one should I buy?

I have a set a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 and they sound wonderfully

But don't push the subwoofer too hard, they have a reputation for fuse problems. And If you buy them, don't forget to take a extended service warranty. Engineered in USA but made in china... like every electronics parts these day.

There is a similar thing by Onkyo, but I guess question was more about Speakers not "soundcards".

If you are to spend 185$ on speakers and XXX$ on receiver, I would recommend going normal stereo speakers by Paradigm - called Titans! And for reiever you can get basically almost anything you want. But ~200$ amp/receiver is more than enough for PC purposes. Concerning .1 part of the system, you can get some cheap subwoofer. Basically anything would work, but before buying try if you need any sub at all and if you need, then try Paradigm Monitor 3, they have more low than enough bass.

If you live in USA, then on eBay you can have totally fantastic deals on 5.1 system by Logitech Z-680 where most auctions end with price around ~190 + 40$ shipping. Which is a great deal and quality/price value is unbeatable.

If you are looking only at 2.1 computer speaker setup, then I would defenitely select Altec Lansing 621.

i have heard their speakers alot and like em. just not ready to invest in more speakers.
mostly listen via the wireless Advent headphones i picked up.
wireless being more important presently.
when I want it loud I just hook em up to my Randall Stack, or Sansui loudspeakers.

I also have Klipsch 2.1 and I am very satisfied (also upgraded my sound card to M-Audio Revolution).

I recommend the Klipsch Promedia 2.1, too. A friend of mine owns them. They are incredibly loud for their small size. The bass is powerfull and the mids and heights appear clean.

This set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 seems really good. Unfortunately, I didn't find any shop from which to buy here in France...

Does someone have suggestions concerning Creative, Altec, Logitech or so brands?

Music preference is very personal.

If possible, listen before u buy, and buy the one which sounds good to u.

Yeah, sure. I think that the Altec Lansing 621 is the best 2.1 speaker system you can get within those brands you mentioned. The Klipsch is also very hard to find here in Spain.

Altec Lansing 621 is your best option.

Videologic Sirocco is a real sound beast Not cheap but powerful

Videologic and Monsoon speakers seem to be easily available in Europe.

I have a Videologic Sirocco Crossfire (4.1) and a Aego2 (2.1). The Aego2 is slightly better overall although the bass is a little too strong around 50Hz. I've heard good things about the Altec 621s but never listened to them myself, also they are a bit big to have sitting on your desk.

I'd get an Aego2 if you can find one. I paid £87.45 for mine, great at the price.

Personally I won't touch Altec Lensing and Logitech.

I own Altec Lensing ACS48 before. Bought it after reading rave reviews, listen to it and learn my lession - never believe the reviews!!! Later switch to MicroWork and happy with the sound. Recently just upgrade my MicroWork to MegaWord 510D.

Logitech, I had a chance listen to Z680, found it is more suitable for DVD video playing or gaming, but not music listening. But that's my personal experience.

Didn't have a chance listen to Crossfire and Aego2, thus no comment.

Personal recommendation, I would suggest for Klipsch Permedia series and CSW MegaWork series.

P/S:- I done a small test, by switching the satelite of MicroWork and MegaWork, subwoofer remain MegaWork unit, found MicroWork satelite are more forwarding, MegaWork satelite are much better control.

Antoher friend of mine owns a 2.1 set of Altec Lansing speakers. He bought them three years ago. they must have cost around 100€. At that time I only had Sony SRS-Z 750 desktopspeakers. I really was impressed by the warm and clean bass the Altec speakers were able to reproduce.

But you cannot turm them really loud like the Klipsch 2.1.
