In using midi sources to compose, as most scores low to mid budget are "filled out" these days, what is the best software to use to produce as close to live instrument recording as possible?

What does a really good job in normalization?

What should I use for a compression unit to get professional quality output?

What produces a really good reverb, since this is one of the key issues in amateur/pro cds??

I am a composer by trade and not an engineer. Like all of us producing scores, we have become composer/engineer/producer and everything else to produce the "package deal".

I'd really appreciate any help on these things.
