Considering that each generation of SB Audigy/Live has been substantially better than the last, I'm thinking that Creative's next card must be at least a little better than the audigy 2. (At least different quirks, if not fewer.) Has anybody heard any rumors on the creative labs sound card development front?
Just wonering about this as I was contemplating a sound card purchase. My motherboard's on-board sound doesn't work so well in the newer 3d games (e.g. Unreal 2). Plus, I used to really enjoy my aureal card's positional sound. I'd rather not buy an SB audigy 2 only to have it outclassed a month later by a card having the same price.
Thanks,

Then stay away from Creative. That's what I did. Their cards are mediocre at best.
They tend to do a fall release each year. I'd wait till July or August just to find out what they are planning.
I also use Creative cards simply for the EAX compatibility (I play lots of games) but i sure wish they were better for music.
I can wait for fall, no problem! Thanks!

Or get a cheap Live card for games and a good audio card such as a Revolution for listening to music.
One thing that's known about Creative's next-gen soundcard is EAX4. There should also be a PCI Express version of the card.

Given the well-known care they put into bringing your PCI bus (and system) down, I have high expectations about their upcoming PCI Express SB cards
