Just like some clarifications here...
so far, for checking the quality of a burnt CDR, I've been using CD Quality Test from Nero CD Speed. This is regardless of CD type ( data / audio ). I was under the impression that this, and not ScanDisc ( also from Nero CD Speed ) was the ideal way to check if the media had begun to experience degradation.
However, recently, I browsed through the help files of Nero CD Speed, and it seems that Nero's help file has two different approaches for data and audio CDs. For data, it recommends a combination of ScanDisc ( File Test and Surface Scan ) as well as Transfer Rate test. For audio discs, the CD quality check is still recommended.
Is Nero correct ( i.e. ScanDisc, Transfer Rate Test for data, CD Quality Test for audio), or is the old method which I used in which CD Quality Test was used for everything, and the quality determined by the number of errors and any spikes in the graph still a valid one?
