Hi, does anybody know how to calculate the average bitrate of this ripping made with --alt-preset standard?

Frame 176543 (100%)

32 [ 26]
128 [ 3125]
160 [41993]
192 [82252]
224 [30248]
256 [ 9509]
320 [ 9347]

Thank you very much

WINAMP\Preferences\Input\MPEG audio decoder settings\Decoder\Misc Options, tick "Show average bitrate on VBR files"

You won't be very far out if you simply take the file size in bytes and divide it by the play time in seconds. It won't be 100% accurate because of headers, etc., but it won't be too far away.

the former solutions are way too simple ,)
you can make a balanced mean:

(bitrate1*nb_frames1+bitrate2*nb_frames2+...)/total_nb_of_frames

and the result is:198.89

i guess i should do something more constructive, lol.

CODE

 32         *     26 =      832
128         *   3125 =   400000
160         *  41993 =  6718880
192         *  82252 = 15792384
224         *  30248 =  6775552
256         *   9509 =  2434304
320         *   9347 =  2991040
              ______   ________
198,9404646 * 176500 = 35112992

Thank you so much for all your answers !!! smile.gif
Hanky
Average bitrate = (Filesize*8)/(track length)
Filesize in bytes, track length in seconds.
Bitrate in bits per second, divide by 1000 to get kbps
Please do not nitpick about file headers, id tags etc....

edit: Roughly the same as john33's answer, I didn't read that yet wink.gif
