Hmm, don't know if this is intended(work not yet done) or not, but when using the extended GUI the transport buttons(stop, pause, play, next, etc.) arent visible. That is, you can use them, but they appear "unlabeled"(but if you move the mouse pointer over them, a popup appears).
Happens on beta 30 and 31 on my machine. Fresh install of foobar and no third party plugins used. OS is Win2000 SP2.
strange, i dont get this ... :/ im using xp pro sp1 though... isn't sp4 out for win2k ??

I havent browsed through all 15 pages, but i have a concern.
I have a 5.1 set up and when using kernal streaming i only get sound from 2.1 channels. I tried all different DSPs, but no luck. However when i use direct sound i get sound from 4.1 channels.
I dont remember this ever happening in 0.667. Also this 0.7 always freezes when i try to queue directories with 200 or so + songs

The problem is caused by specific files (xing mp3s ?), unfortunately none of people who found this problem it decided to post such file, therefore the freeze is still there.
Try to find which file causes it and upload it somewhere if you can.

Constructive feedback is welcome.

- Please make the toolbar configurable, for me it's of no use, I want to use the seekbar, but I'd like to turn of the toolbar.
- Sencondly, I think you should make the little vis more configurable. for example
* Make the min/max frequencies configurable (most of us don't hear above 18KHz so we would prefer not to see those in the vis, also most music hasn't got much content above 16KHz)
* Colours would be nice
* Perhaps the possibility of switching between a frequency spectrum and a waveform view
* If it's possible using the current VIS API, make the graph before the attenuation so If the volume was turned down the graph could still be seen.

But where can I find a working abx-Plugin for v.7b? There doesn't seem to be one includet in the full-installation-file.

In my hunt for better cuesheet support (still no feedback from my last posts regarding missing AUDIO declaration, fixed silently?)
If the FILE declaration is wrong, I've seen the oddest results in foobar. The only real usage for that declaration imho is for burning. If there are 2 files like
file.mp3
file.cue
and the user opens the cuefile, couldn't foobar
1. scan for file.mp3 in same path
2. check for file in the FILE declaration

You need to download the delux installer:

I semi-agree with kwanbis, however, Peter will work on whatever he wants to so suggestions to do with anything are probably welcome.

I personally think the vis box should be optional, so the best would probably be to make eveything optional.... heh.
Vis configurability will probably come in time anyway. It's just a test to test the features from the API at the moment I believe.
Also I think if people write their own visualisations they will work in the same way as the test vis so someone else could write a vis more suitable to your requests and you could use that instead... in fact, the same goes for the UI. The thing is, who will do it?

Ok. But if you re-read my post you see I mention a bug when opening a cuesheet where the filename is not correct, so please dont dismiss the entire post.
news on the "blank transport buttons"-bug
seems like this ISN'T really a bug, but a strange way which colors foobar picks for the buttons.
In fact, the toolbar background-color was the same, as the color used for the transport-buttons. Strangely, i never ever ran into such a problem with any other app.
May i suggest to either make color of the transport-symbols configurable, and/or let them use the standard 3d-objects-text color by default? (the color used for labeling buttons).

I don't know if this has been reported or not but if you hold down seek button you can "seek" way beyond song time, it doesn't automatically start next song. I didn't try this in version 0.667 but it happens in version 0.7.
I don't know if this is intended or not:
"When foobar is the active window and I press the Next key (or Random key) the selection thing jumps to the new selected file. This also works if foobar is not the active window but still visible.
If I minimize the window this does not work anymore, the selection jumps to the new file but the playlist doesn't follow"
... Or if you prefer: "The playlist does not follow the active song if foobar is minimized"
Kind of annoying...
--> 0.7 beta31 (even in 0.667)
--> Follow cursor is ON.
--> Windows 2000 SP4.

Hmh, strange.
It seems that Foobar suddenly does not like to show file info anymore. If I click "Show file info" in the context menu, nothing happens.
Was just doing some title formatting and it still worked fine a short while ago. Reinstalled FB (over old folder and config) and still nothing.
Guess I'll have to do a clean reinstall when I'm less tired tomorrow. Way to late now anyway.
Happened on Beta31.

If you select reload info from file it only rereads tags stored in this file. File name isn't stored in the tags.

Sure. But I removed the file from my playlist and opened the renamed file, after that fb showed the old name.
Deleting the db or only that entry can't be a prober solution
Making a case-sensitive database for a case-insensitive file system isn't a proper solution, either.
I am not sure how one would query Windows for the actual filename. Perhaps FindFirst?

Allright, did a clean reinstall this morning and obviously everything works fine now.
Seems that my old config got broken somehow. Whenever I place the old config in my :B folder the "Show File info" option does not work. As soon as I place a fresh config in the :B folder everything is fine again.
EDIT:Duh, it seems that it was rather my own config that was broken when beeing so tired yesterday and not Foobars'.
After some more investigation (comparing configs) it turned out that I must have dragged the File Info window off the screen. Obviously not a very smart thing to do while "remember window positions" is enabled.
Guess its one of these, good programs can't prevent errors from stupid users case.
My apologies for my dullness.

The dropdown history for "Sort incoming files" hasnt been working here for past couple builds, it instead acts wierd when I press the drop down button..
why does (at least beta31) always show "(CORE)VERBOTEN!" when applying any kind of tags to files?
well at least it does for me... it tags the files tho
i think some of the formating code is messed up:
CODE
$progress(%_time_elapsed_seconds%,%_time_total_seconds%,50,'0000BF+000000','-')
i was using this for the status bar. it does not work correctly in beta 32 but worked before in beta 22-28.
if you remove the 000000 colorcode it works again but now the colors are not the way they should be

Seems they forgot to include the html file.
Until they do as a workaround you can got to
http://www.foobar2000.org/titleformat_help.html and simply save the page into your foobar directory as titleformat_help.html
That should do the job.

Perhaps you should show keyboard shortcuts with their associated dlls? Just a thought. I think you might have to break out the treeview for that, though.
Workedaround for next beta (slight extension to menu_item API, now menu_item can report itself as force-disabled).
Also, foo_ui_std_ex is no more, it will be included as default UI now.

the "crash when adding files bug" is reminding me some weird freeze-on-win9x-with-onboard-ac97-issue in one of winamp output plugins. took forever to get any useful info out of uhm people reporting it, most of them couldn't even tell their soundcard type, not to mention posting full system specs.
perhaps its caused by xing mp3s or something like that, would explain why none of regulars ever got it.

this is great news - may i ask if the problem with the "invisible transport-buttons"(they do have the same color on my system than their background) was fixed? I mean, i love the extended GUI, but it's quite annoying, if one doesn't know which button is which one ;)

You mean, you use black color for 3d controls ? I've researched it and I haven't found a way around it (yet), seems like eg. wordpad somehow avoids that, but majority of other programs I tried (including MS ones) doesn't.
no, i'm using blue for 3d-objects...... and the transport-button icons do have the same color on my system. Would it be possible to let the icons simply use the same color which is used for text on buttons? (i.e. ok, cancel, etc.) Or simply let it be configurable (or both) ?
