I'm setting up a "Music" account on my comp since I just wired it into the surround system in the living room. I need a player with the most intuitive UI to put in the Startup folder of this new account. Any ideas?

Foobar2000. Uses the native Win32 GUI. Hard to beat a standard interface for intuitivity, IMO.

I need something that will piss off most of the users here. Something with a music library listing by artist and album. Stuff like that. I use Winamp along with windows explorer for myself, but I don't want to have to explain that to drunk people. wink.gif

EDIT: Will Winamp 3 play MPCs? Is there a plugin?

I am not sure I understand what you are asking for, but with Foobar the playlist is THE MAIN FEATURE. It certainly occupies pretty much all the view. With correct title formating you can make album, artist and song all different colors that will make it easier to pick the correct songs, even when drunk (I am talking from experience here wink.gif )

Also, Foobar is the best for long playlists with a lot of tracks from a lot of different albums because of its universal ReplayGain support.

Just install it, load a bunch of songs and you will not have to explain it to everybody.

Check it out

Oh shit. You sound like my software engineering prof. smile.gif Define the word however you like. I know it's not objective, but you can still get the idea of what I'm looking for.

And yea, I'll give Foobar a try.

There are actually two kind of intuitive for music players.

1. The ones that look like a stereo (Winamp, Musicmatch)
2. The ones that look like computer applications (Foobar2000)

so what kind of ease of use do you prefer?

I recommend f00b along with the majority here.

i think, the mexp plugin for winamp2 might be, what you are looking for. it also has a nice "party mode", which is pretty customizeable.

Well, at the rsik of annoying folks here, IMHO Foobar is the exact opposite of what you're asking for here. Its whole purpose in life is that of a simplistic player.

Check out this software thats discussed at this thread.

I did the same thing you're trying to do. Create a log-on screen of "JukeBox", and place the JukeBox software in the startup folder. Works great! The only downside is, it does take some initial setup work just by virtue of having to acquire the album art on the net. Of course, you don't have to do the album art route, it just makes it that much nicer to use.

Try it out, but also, at least try Foobar too. It is a nice player, I just don't think its in line with what you're asking.

BTW - Don't let the $150 dollar screen in the "options" window scare you, thats only for commercial use. tongue.gif
