Have anyone considered bundling the ICL optimized components (optional MMX, MMX, SSE and SSE2) in the FooBar2000 full installer? So the user can install the one he is interested in?

I don't think telephone modem users are happy with a extra megabyte download, when they will only use one quarter of it.

make category plugin packages. (zip)

An alternative could be to upload three installers for download, one with the optimised component dlls packaged, another without (currently "Full"), and the third "Lite" version.
