If I'm using the Lame 3.90.3 apeinput binary to transcode and ape file to an mp3 file, is there a possiblility that I would get artifacts if I was doing something else on the computer like browsing the internet?

APE = Lossless
MP3 from Lossless = MP3 from WAV
Doing work on your computer while encoding will only slow down the encoding process, not cause any artifacts.
