I'm about to encodet a bunch of cd to aac/mp4 for my ipod. should i start using quictime pro or should i wait to nero6 comes.
How will the AAC encoder in nero compare to quicktimes quality wise (around 128/streaming)?

There have been improvements done internally - these will be published as soon as new Nero5 web release is out, and in Nero6, of course.
Improvements include CBR (new bit rate control) and VBR, as well as 5.1 multichannel CBR improvements as well.

Looks like I have to buy Nero 6 when it arrives. I didn't see any possibilities to upgrade an OEM 5.5 version (I got it with my CDRW, not an uncommon situation I think).
(Edit: When reading again, it seems OEM can upgrade for $39,99, whereas new purchase (after 1:st may 2003) of the 5.5 version gives an free upgrade!)
Maybe Nero will use the Intervideo strategy, that they give a slightly older versions to OEM for a good price (i.e. continues to use Nero 5.5 for OEM versions) and sell the new and improved v6 on retail only?

I plan to test Nero vs. other formats (similar to the QT vs. other formats that should start in about half a month), but I have other priorities first. Don't hold your breath.
BTW: it was an ABC/HR test, not ABX
