I'm doing some tests with my 48125S LiteOn, CD Speed, EAC and Feurio, and I have a "too much variable" values:
QUOTE
Pioneer CDM-G74S (Pioneer/Type 1)
-CD Speed: 77:57.73 / 685 MB
-EAC: 77:08.33 / 677.98 MB / 347.130 sectors
-Feurio: 78:03:71

Verbatim DataLife Plus (Mitsubishi/Type 3)
-CD Speed: 81:42.23 / 718 MB
-EAC: 80:54.55 / 711.14 MB / 364.108 sectors
-Feurio: 81:48:68

Verbatim DataLife (CMC/Type 6)
-CD Speed: 82:18.53 / 723 MB
-EAC: 81:34.44 / 716.98 MB / 367.098 sectors
-Feurio: 82:28:68

Is there any other accurate tool for this?
Thanks. wink.gif

The ATIP info is never 100% correct and should be taken with a pinch of salt smile.gif

Gday..

nope.. as far as i know..
the cd capacity in EAC is the most accurate one...

BTW:
EX: am using FUJI 80min "audio cdr"
and they haven`t disappointed me yet..
(asus crw 5224a)

nominal capacity: 702.82Mb. 359.848 sectors. 79.57.77 min.
overburn capacity: 826.11Mb. 422.972 sectors. 93.59. 44 min.

Medium Type B.. Short Strategy I3 write pulse (Phthalocyanine)

I use Nero CD Speed.
It has proven itself very accurate. For example I have a bunch of FujiFilm (Taiyo Yuden) 80min/40x. Nero CD Speed reports me that overburn capacity is 82:34. I have been able to burn 82:32 (of course the Lead Out writing always fails when this close, you have to leave at least 50 seconds free to have a full Lead Out, it doesn't hurt the data anyway).
I wrote it about a year and a half and it still plays nice.

You can use nero cdspeeds overburning test to find how far you can overburn.

Well, this is a mix of curiosity and pseudo-scientific experiment, I was asking myself if the limit can be determined with precision.

Yes, but those tools don't use the ATIP info, they do a simulated burn and stop when there's an error.

I was a bit surprised with the results, because EAC seems to be much more conservative than CD Speed and Feurio, but that can be a good explanation. So, if EAC discounts those 50 seconds, we have very coherent results between programs.

More data:
QUOTE
TDK Reflex Ultra (Taiyo Yuden/Type 1)
-CD Speed: 77:00.12 / 676 MB
-EAC: 76:14.55 / 670.11 MB / 343.100 sectors
-Feurio: 77:08:56

So we can consider a +-10 seconds precision... it isn't bad.
But a small/specific/command line tool would be nice (it could be used for other apps)... Somebody? Someday? wink.gif

Feurio reports several positions:
-Last position sent to the writer
-minus cache memory (estimated capacity)
(some seconds less)
-Error position reported by writer

Probably, EAC does not include the LeadOut.
According to Feurio, LeadOut in audio discs is not necessary (that's what it says when overburning fails during LeadOut. It doesn't show an error, just that message).
