Full Version: Disturbing Problem With Eac

I have been using EAC 0.9b4 for quite some time now. Going on two years.

Well today I got some new CDs and loaded one into my drive and started up EAC. The drive selection window in EAC normally shows "Lite On LTR40125S," which is my CD burner and the drive I always use to rip CDs with EAC. Well this time it showed "Generic STEALTH DVD-ROM" or some such thing. This is a Daemon Tools virtual drive. I thought maybe Daemon Tools was interfering, so I uninstalled it and rebooted.

Then I opened EAC again. The drive selection window was blank with no drives to select. I tried EAC's configuration wizard, but that didn't help. I uninstalled EAC and downloaded EAC 0.95pb3 and ran it. Nothing. I rebooted and tried again. Nothing. I deleted 0.95pb3 and reinstalled 0.9b4. Rebooted. Nothing.

Windows Explorer has no trouble detecting or reading my drives.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'll use CDex in the meantime, but I really want EAC.

I wonder if my recently installed Norton System Works 2003 is blocking my drives or something.

Actually, CDex can't detect my drives either.

I checked SiSoft Sandra, which is a detailed system analysis program, and it finds the drives fine.

This sucks ass.

Try installing ASPI Drivers. http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/dow...s/frcASPI17.zip

I'll look for some other ones. Those don't support XP. Thanks for the pointer though.

No dice. I tried Adaptec's ASPI and Nero's ASPI and neither one solved the problem.

if you have nero - burning rom installed, copy the file WNASPI32.DLL from the nero into your windows\system32 directory.
also try changing the ASPI setting in EAC (EAC -> EAC Options -> Interface).

i remember i had the same problem once, and i know that i solve it without having daemon tools uninstalled.

I figured it out, via help from this topic:

I used the second post's suggestion and copied Nero's ASPI into the EAC folder.

Man what a pain this has been, but it works now.
