hello
i am digging smile.gif in replaygain topic
in some manuals people mention about the 'radio' and 'audiophile' settings,
(i prefer to use 'audiophile')
but they don't write any info how to do it sad.gif
if i do replaygain against directory that contain mousepack made album with syntax
replaygain --auto *.mpc
is it 'radio' or rather audiophile?
what is if i use 'mpc batch encoder' and i point it to one dir with one album at time?
is it 'radio' or rather audiophile?
thanx

the difference between radio (or track) and audiophile (or album) replaygain modes is: when replaygaining the files a track value is saved for every individual track, while the album value is calculated from the average values of the albums tracks.

if you set album gain in your player, all tracks of one album get attenuated at the same level. if you want to mix tracks from several albums (e.g. for partys) track gain mode is more accurate.

so, when i replygain my albums, each stored in different directories, and after that i play them in foobar, it uses per album gain or per track gain?
i don't realy understand it
but thanx for reply

the files you gain have both: track and album value. which value is used has to be set in the player (look at foobar preferences -- playback --replaygain mode; here is where you set it)

ok thankx,
default setting in foobar is album gain

but how it calculate album gain?
with syntax
replaygain --auto *.mpc
or with 'mpc batch encoder'
it takes all tracks in specified directory and treat it as an album?

i don't use mpc batch encoder, but i think it does the same as "replaygain --auto *.mpc".

right.

You can also scan for ReplayGain values in Foobar. Select the files and right click and scan for replaygain. You can select each album and scan it separately, or use the album field to determine which albums are different. If you only scan track gain, you don't get album gain info, but FB2K will use that if there's none.
