I have a bunch of cbr 320 mp3 that I want to reduce in size, so using lame 3.93.1 I get lots of these errors:

Error: sample frequency has changed in MP3 file - not supported
bitstream problem: resyncing...

no matter what flags I pass, i.e. --alt-presents standard, even without any flags, still lots of these errors and resulting file ends up being about 160kb...

the problematic files have id3v2 tags... if I either remove the id3v2 tag OR convert it to a v1 tag then lame can handle that file just fine... OK workaround for me.

I have lots of other files with id3v2 tags that work just fine.. only a few can't be converted...

Is there any specific reason why you are transcoding 320 kbps CBR mp3's to an APS? The filesize will decrease, as will the quality. I hope you're archiving your original 320's.
