I have a question if someone can help: I try to rip a cd with EAC to wave format (Test &copy selected (all) tracs/Uncompressed. After this I can compress to mp3 with Tools/Compress wavs option, also if I don't have the cd, but in this way I loose the tags. I use User defined encoder with all the tags done with lame... Is there a way to retain tags also without the cd in?
Or is a tag utility that can import tags from local freedb database (because with EAC I can export the cd info into a local freedb database).

Thanks in advance

You could choose an appropriate directory/filename template to save (most of) the tag info (EAC options/naming scheme) . After encoding to mp3 you could use Tag to construct ID3 tags from this filename.

This is one of the biggest problems I have with EAC.
Don't know of a way to do that, in a smooth fasion.

EAC should really have that feature.
I know that Audiograbber can do it. It just tags the wav:s with the ID3:s, and when you encode to MP3 with AG it copies the tags.

Hanky's way does work, but it is a bit bulky.

I rip my CDs in the following filename formats:

%artist%-%album%-%tracknumber&-%title%

Then I can tag the files using the masstagger in foobar2000.

This would be a nice feature in EAC as well, if there's a standard, safe and transparant way to add a tag to a riff-wav audio file. For example if I added a APEv2 tag to a wav file would this interfere with other software ? Any developer comment on this?

One useful thing will be also if EAC when rip the cd to wave can do a .bat file with all the lines to encode and tag the waves... (if you use user defined encoder)

In the last version of EAC (0.95prebeta3) I find an option to first rip all wave then compress. You must do this way:
  • go to "EAC/EAC options..." menu, select "Tools" and select "On extraction, start compressors queued in the background"
  • go to "Database/Compression Queue Control Center" menu and select "Make all compression tasks sleep", then "OK"
  • now you can ripp the cd with Shift+F6 (Test & Copy selected tracks/Compressed...)
  • after the work is done, the tracks are ripped, but non compressed. For start the compression go to "Database/Compression Queue Control Center" menu and unselect "Make all compression tasks sleep", then "OK"
  • done.
You can also exit EAC, and all the queue are retained :-)

Hope this help B)

Why do you need to do such a thing? Probably MAREO would serve you for the purpose you're aiming for...

@Shorty,
Could you please explain to us that your post is not conflicting with forum rule #6 (Every post must be on topic) and possibly #9 (You did not mention the dictionary that you copied from, so we cannot check that you own the copyright of it)

Actually I was trying to help damjang comply with rule #10. Thanks.

You should do that to each and every post then. If writing "loose" instead of "lose" really means conflicting with forum rule #10, then one can guess, you'll have really a lot to do.

Writing "loose" instead of "lose" didn't make damjang impossible to understand. Anyway, thank you for making us see the light. I'm sure we really needed some.

By the way, if something needs to be corrected in this post, please feel free to do whatever you want. I really do want to comply with rule#10. Thanks.

for whatever reason you took 'trying to educate' as 'trying to ridicule' and I can't help that.

There'd be no problem adding APE, ID3 or whatever to RIFF files, just pick a suitable ID. Any application that doesn't recognize the ID will (should!) ignore it.
