I just encoded some material from "The Great Speeches of the 20th Century" box set. The compression was VERY high. I know these are most likely mono recordings and all, but I just want to make sure that lossless is lossless for speech as well.

(I just got freaked out when I saw the files were compressed to ~25% of their original size.)

Perfectly normal, don't worry. smile.gif

You can get good compression ratios with classical music also. It's just easy to compress material.

If you use a lossless codec it should compress anything bit identical to the source.
