Full Version: Adding a line on the scanner surface

When scanning my cd cover, it is hard to place the cd cover on the glass and get it straight since it has to a 1/2 inch away from the border. Is there a way I can place a line as a guide on the scanner glass to place my cd covers straight? Or maybe some kind of tape?

Thanks,
Darin

Well, you can use almost anything. I just lay a short ruler along the bottom edge the scanner glass. I was using a 3x5 notecard for awhile, but finally realized that it wasn't completely square. The ruler has a much straighter edge.

Just out of curiousity, could you tell me what you scan your CD covers at(dpi)?

Thanks,

Well, I've been scanning at 150dpi. Mostly because this is what my scanner software defaults to when you set it to scan for printing. I scan from Photoshop, then crop the edges and resize to 500x500 pixels (original scanned size is around 700x700) and save as .jpg at quality 6 using Photoshop. At this resolution, the images are almost always under 100kb and they look decent if I use them to print a CD cover.
