I recently bought a CD that says it has videos on it along with the audio, but I for the life of me, I can't find them on the CD. Nothing but 13 .cda tracks on the CD when viewed in Explorer, but EAC sees a 14th track as a data track. What can I do to view these videos?

This might work: try disabling any kind of autoplay feature in Windows, reinsert the disc and view the contents of the CD in Explorer once again (right click / Explore is the safest in My Computer because a double click might start Media player).
Cheers!

I did what you said, but still, no go. Here are the screens.

EAC and Nero see the data track #14. But Explorer can't see them. Any ideas?

Are you sure you don't have some sort of software or OS modification that allows the user to only see the first session of a CD? Because CD-Extras are usually, if not always, done on a second session of the CD in Mode2/XA.

Nah man. I have no modifications of that kind. I just plggued in my Wu-Tang Forever CD 1 and I am able to see the CD data and I'm able to play the audio. So I dunno...

I late XD.
I have a same problem but in my case its caused for a duplication error, and the disc was free changed but for the time before the reedition I estract the data with: isobuster.

I took your advice and ended up extracting Session 2 which had the data and exported it to a .bin file.

I tried using numerous applications to exract the data from the .bin, but I haven't had any luck. How did you extract yours?

i had the EXACT same problem a day or two ago... was trying to get data off this CDR from a completely non-computer savvy guy i know... turns out after extracting the data track in ISOBuster and looking at it, it was a Mac session (Toast x.x.x was in the header somewhere) ... which SHOULD have read, seeing as how i have MacDrive... so i just fired up my G4, browsed the disc, found two .MOVs and copied them over the network... pretty lame if you ask me. Nero didn't help, ISOBuster didn't help, and EAC ended up copying the track as well (in a CDImage rip), giving me that screech of data...

*gives apple the finger*

You don't have to extrack the sesion, you only have to search in the sesion tree for the files ( the can be twice, one with iso names an other with larger name), selec the files an push the rigth boton on the mouse and extract only the files. If the cd is in mac format you can try to use aplications like Macopener( i dont now if work isobuster with mac discs).

Windows (itself) won't help - it wants data track to be the first. You can try extracting the data track and running some CD emulation program, like VirtualCD.

Looks like I need MacOpener eh? unsure.gif
Elohe
off course you ned MacOpener other alternative is: TransMac.

hmm did you try to just put it in a dvd player? not dvd drive in PC, but a regular dvd player? my assumption is that if you bought it it's not ment to be hard to play for a consumer, and the only thing consumer has that plays video on laser disc is dvd player. also Apple in there doesn't have to mean that it's gotta be played in some apple format player, it could easily mean that the guy who put it there was working on the mac smile.gif

The problem is the disc filesystem format, it is HFS and it is the disc filesystem format in mac computers, its like to NTFS or FAT32 to windows, normaly the discs uses the filesystem ISO 9660, this is the estandar and all Computer uses it with the exception of MACs.

But audio player plays it back right (the music I mean)? Then it's a regular CD format, and the source of those files was a Mac, CD is not harddrive it cannot be partitioned into 2 different filesystems. Moreso CD cannot be formatted into HFS (as there are some interactive components to that file system and CD cannot have interactive filesystem unless it's a CDRW or DVDRW, which it isn't in this case), so the file cannot be a Mac only format.

I stand by my motion to put it into a regular DVD player.

You are in a error, its posible to mix varios filesistem in a cd but i donīt know how it work and its is make during de writing ( can you si the nero, it can de write hybrid cds, hfs + iso 9660 and UDF + iso 9660). the audio dont use any filesystem, they are only raw pcm data with a toc, but if you write a multiseion cd the cd audio players only can see the first sesion and the computer de last sesion.

possibly, but why would they sell in a music store something that cannot be read by a LOT of people?

I think we should stop arguing and just let Ada put it in a DVD player scroll through tracks and see if it works? biggrin.gif don't get me wrong I love hypothetical arguments, especially the ones on unreleased games laugh.gif

Ada's CD is broken up into 2 sessions. The first session being the audio tracks, which to my knowledge can only be stored on CD one certain way. This explains why he has no trouble getting to the audio tracks. The second session contains the data, which is the movie he wants to view. However, this second session is formatted in HFS filesystem which is a Mac filesystem. With the programs mentioned above in this thread he should be able to view it the HFS-formatted data in Windows.

It's bad enough when people author something, assuming that everyone uses Windows - but to author something assuming that everyone has a Mac?!

Doh!

Cheers,
David.
Ada
Sorry for the delay, but the data track is not reachable on a DVD player either. It has the same symtoms as when I put the disc in a regular CDROM. Going to install MacOpener now and test it out. Lets see what we get smile.gif
Ada
Ok. I just installed valid versions of MacOpener2000 6.05 and Transmac 6.0. They still give me nothing. I checked the Explorer and still just only 13 CDA tracks. No sign of the data track other than the usual programs telling me it IS there.

Tomorrow I will go into work and run the CD on my mac. I will let you guys know if it works. ph34r.gif
Ada
Welp, I put the CD in my mac at work and presto. The whole data track containing the videos in .mpg format are on the desktop. dry.gif
