I want to check and see what levels my FLAC files(with Replay Gain already implanted) have been set at for Replay Gain. I use MP3 Gain to check it(With no check for Layer I or Layer II activated) and analyzed it. I get some info on it...but for clipping all I get is ????. How come it is not able to tell me if there is clipping or not and how can I find out?

Thanks,

Clipping (if not present on the original material) does not really apply to lossless codecs. Output of those cannot be greater than output of WAVs --- it's identical smile.gif

Lossless codecs (in particular transform) do some transformations and quantisation, which may result in >16bit output with 16 bit input samples on decoding.

1. MP3Gain is for MP3s only.
2. You might want to try foobar2000, it shows replaygain levels in 'Show file info'.
3. If there's no clipping in the WAV, then there won't be any clipping in the FLAC file.

criZZb, reread your post! I hope you've meant lossy codecs.
