I need some help with this topic and would appriciate any advice.

I have a DivX video file and an aac audio file

The aac audio file with created with PsyTel using the setting -internet. Does this create an mpeg2 aac file or an mpeg4 aac file?

How do you create mpeg4 aac files with PsyTel instead of the mpeg2 aac file?

How do I get both the DivX video and the aac audio files into the mp4 container and then play it through windows media player, or even better DivX player.

This is what I have tried already.

I installed 3ivx D4 404 and aacCore

I used MP$UI to mux both audio and video together.

When I try opening the file in DivX player, it shows an error message. and when I try opening it in windows media player, it freezes.

That am I doing wrong?

Please help!

mpeg-2 or mpeg-4 makes no difference qualitywise -> only the headers are different
-> use "ivan & menno" for changing the header

that's the same way i would have done it, dont know why it doesnt work

-> plz try opening the .mp4 in graphedit and report if it works (opening and playback)

Divx Playa doesnt supports aac sound. Use mp3

What mp4UI version are you using? Old verion of mp4creator are know to cause freeze video when use with mpeg4 aac

I am using mp4ui 0.93

I have tried adding the audio first and then the video before optimizing

I have also tried it the other way around e.g. video added before audio.

I downloaded graphedit and opened the mp4 file init. I clicked play and it worked perfectly ???

I think this means that there is a problem playing the mp4 file. I have read that mp4player is supposed to be the best for playing mp4 audio/video files. Can anyone tell me where this can be downloaded from, as I cant seem to find it?

try the latest mp4ui (0.95a) which you can find here!

so it should be working in every good player based on directshow (definitely not windows media player - divx player is not directshow based i think?)
try media player classic, bsplayer or zoomplayer

Thanks for the info. It works.

However, when I let the movie play from beginning to end there is no problem, but when I used the seekbar to forward the movie, the audio no longer stays in sync with the video!

Do you know how this can be fixed ?

i haven't had time to play with mp4, but have you tried the matroska container? It looks promising

This is a known problem. Corecodec people say the reason is in 3ivx mp4 splitter.

Currently I'm using Matroska .mkv at least as long as mp4 playback and support becomes decent.. Corecodec is going to implement mkv->mp4->mkv conversion possibility, which for example makes it possible to edit the media stream with free software and then convert it easily to mp4 again.

EDIT. Sync in mkv after seeking works perfectly.

Thanks Althalus and JohnV smile.gif

So how do I get started with mkv

what do I need to mux the DivX_video_file with the aac_audio_file into an mkv container file?

Which components/codecs are required to play mkv files, e.g, we need Coreaac and 3ivx splitter to play mp4 files?

Which player is best for playing mkv files?

This next question is slightly off topic: I cant seem to get ivan&menno to work? I select the wav file I want to encode to mp4, I click encode and "nothing". Why is this happening?
JohnV
I think the easiest is to download the Matroska pack:
http://matroska.free.fr/downloads/Matroska...ck%20v0.4.3.zip

Also download mkvtoolnix 0.5.0 here:
http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/
and replace the mkvmerge.exe with newer one here http://sivut.koti.soon.fi/julaak/mkvmerge.zip

Then just use mkvmerge:
mkvmerge -o MyMovie-with-sound.mkv MyMovie.avi MyMovie.aac

I use Media Player Classic for the playback.

I just created my first mkv file (DivX5 and aac_mpeg2) and I am really impressed wink.gif

I tried again to use ivan%menno to convert the aac_mpeg2 file to aac_mpeg4 but it does not work???

does anyone know why

Please

IIRC mkvmerge wants the AAC file in mpeg2 form anyway.

Bug fixes, and working SSA subs support etc. I got it directly from the developer when testing Matroska with SSA subs, but he hasn't updated his page yet.

would be great if the updated sources could be sent to mosu, the author of the mkvtoolnix prog..

Umm.. I just said that I got it directly from the developer (Mosu). Not sure what do you mean though.
JEN
is it possible to change the program in which mkv is opened in through dos?

I know how to do it in windows, but how would you type in some commands which would force the mkv file to open in windows media player or windows media player classing?

Sorry for raping this thread, as its about MP4 originally, but as you seem to be the original author of it i dare posting :

We are planning a major release on 4th august, together with the German PC magazine CHIP, who want to include all our stuff on the CD coming with the magazine. This release will comprise

- chapter support ( not 100% certain, but very likely )
- native MPEG4 files
- CRC32 EDC support in the main lib
- picture subs ( uncompressed ; compressed to come later )
- RV9/RA9 in MKV, with editing in VdubMod ( no preview )
- a new shell extension to allow file details from Windows Explorer

Now, the last point is the interesting one for you, as it will allow you to simply right click on the file, and then it has open with MPC, WMP 6.4 and TCMP as fixed items in the dropdown, making it very easy to open the MKV files with any of these players.

if i am missing your point, sorry about it. TCMP, Zoomplayer, BSplayer, VLC and MPC can be configured to become the default player for MKV files in their basic configuration also ...... just Radlight people didnt find the time yet wink.gif .....
rjamorim
WOW. It actually took longer than I expected.

christian you will never learn it laugh.gif

now everybody will use this thread to discuss these (great) new features rolleyes.gif
