I personally can't tell a difference between +-6 from +-20 in the MPC decoder's settings for Winamp.

Am I missing something?

do you use replay gain?

Are you using the Winamp equalizer? With "Equalizing By" set to Musepack, the 6dB/20dB setting tells Musepack how sensitive Winamp's equalizer sliders should be. If the EQ is off, the setting won't make any difference.

With Winamp 2.90, EQ on, and MPC plugin v0.98, this setting definitely makes a difference for me. If I make a notch filter (preamp and all sliders at minimum, except for one slider at maximum), the filter is much more effective with the +20dB setting compared to the +6dB setting. On the other hand, I'd never need +-20dB correction levels if I was equalizing to compensate for room or speaker deficiencies.

OT: Winamp's frequency labels ("60 170 ... 14k 16k") don't appear to be at all accurate, so don't pay attention to them.

edit: okay totally off-topic, but I just decoded removeEvul.js and I wanted to mess with it without creating a new thread or post, so I just hijacked an older post of mine. smile.gif

Can I write this?
