I just updated the audiocoding.com CVS to include the SBR decoder source code. It's still licensed under the GPL.
Compiled plugins, etc. will follow as soon as someone makes them available

Awesome! Now all we have to wait for is hardware support.

What are the legal details regarding hardware support now that we have software decoder support? Does this allow for integration in hardware, or would that be a separate release?

I guess SBR can be used on hardware players

but this code, not yet...

http://pessoal.onda.com.br/rjamorim/in_mp4.exehttp://pessoal.onda.com.br/rjamorim/faad.zip I can't get the new in_mp4 plugin working. It doesn't even show up in the plugin list, and I have installed in multiple times jsut to be sure. I tried playing back one of my new HE AAC test encodes, and of course, Winamp just acts confused and does nothing. I am running Winamp version 2.91.

Do you have libmmd.dll in your windows/system folder?

Is there sound coming out of it, or just the seekbar running from left to right?
Frampesomi
Jul 29 2003, 11:10
the seekbar is fine, but the music plays, skipping most of it. once the "music" is finished, the seekbar is still going, but only silence remains...
i'l try some different songs again.
EDIT: yes, the same problem with all my encoded HE AAC titles. well, there are only 5.

but they all play well with nero media player.

strange.. is it only me having this?

amazing quality at even ~43kbps! Only one question...I just did a vbr encode and only the average bitrate displays..perhaps some of my multiple aac/mp4 Winamp plugins are interfering w/ one another.
thijs@rdb
Jul 29 2003, 23:02
it even sounds nicely listenable at 16 kbps (mono) B)
what whould be the best setting for this? bitrate as low as possible (16 kbps that is if i am correct). for now there will be no need for streaming, so vbr seems possible (correct?). bet there are some more options below which can be ticked. one of those says something about low bitrates (cant remember the name right now). what does this do?
thanks in advance
edit: oops, realised this might not be the best thread for this. was a bit confused... just too many nero 6 / aac thread around lately
what is the audiocoding cvs address ?
why the code i download using cvs is still old without sbr?

hmm. who should use in_mp4 and who should use faad? what is the difference?
and please compile the plugin without the dependency. it's rather annoying to have to put some strange dlls to your system folders.

Don't worry, you're not the only one! I have the same problem.

I think that we are being directed to the backup server which is not up-to-date. It will correct itself in time.

Yes, this is the cause.

As you may have noticed, CVS is visibly having growing pains. Due to
system load, we have had to move anonymous checkouts to our backup
server. This has made the code of our 65,000 projects more
accessible. However, since data is synchronized from the primary
CVS servers to the backup CVS servers at specific times during the day,
it has also caused up to a 24 hour delay in getting the
freshest code on the site.

For MacOS X users: You can download precompiled Faad2 2.0 at RareWares.
is there already a winamp in_mp4 compile witohut the lib*.dll dependency-
yup, search for the one from john33 (the thread is called "faad plugins" or so...)
tnx, bond
the specific thread is
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....opic=6428&st=50for all those who might want to know.
without the whole .dll stuff it's much more usable now.
too bad it's not indicated in the options (or anywhere) that it NOW supports SBR.

I'm glad to see Winamp finally getting a good decoder :-)
I'm glad to see actual support for the new standard tags, but what identifiers are used for the total number of tracks (the properties portion of the Winamp decoder says track x of y...what identifier to I use for "y"). I'm using foobar2000 v.7 b28 for tagging, as it seems to properly support the new tagging standard. I figured out to use "YEAR" instead of "DATE."
Another interesting development, when I play the AAC/MP4 files in Winamp, even though it can now properly interpret the tag info, it still calls the files by their filenames in the playlist instead of Winamp's traditional Artist - Title format (which I like better). Is there any fix for this?
Thanks again, and excellent work with the plugin!

suggestions for improvement @menno
(regarding winamp file information)
is there any way to check out if the files are cbr or vbr???
is there any way to check out if a file uses SBR at low bitrates?
is there a way to check out if the plugin uses SBR decoding, eg a switch to turn SBR decoding on or off??
these would be additions that would make the use of mp4s much more comfortable.
last question: did you include support for winamp's new library (I don't have any aac/mp4 files, so I can't check it out myself).
TNX, amano
will the plugins mentioned here work with Nero
i just saw that the in_mp4 winamp plugin doesnt work with multichannel files (although downmixing is already implemented in libfaad)!
is it possible to fix that somehow?
thanks
Multichannel decoding works fine here.
Or do you mean that you want an option to downmix to stereo?
